This resource seeks help young people to understand the plight of refugees, and to place the drivers of migration in a wider political context, with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) as a tool providing insight and guidance. The SDGs are a set of global targets, adopted in 2015 at the UN, aimed at ending poverty, protecting the planet, and ensuring sustainable development for all.
This NYCI resource has a number of practical activities to challenge young people to be empathetic to the stark and perilous reality facing refugees and migrants, and giving some insight into what it might be like to have to make the tough choices facing their fellow human beings every day. The activities also challenge and support young people to think about their own role in the world and to consider ways to take action.
