Requirements:
Get direct work experience with young people in a primary and secondary school setting, or evening community groups while engaging in community service action projects that benefit the local community.
Network with various schools, community orgasiations and national charities.
Experience and learn something new while sharing your own knowledge and experiences.
Build onto your professional development. Localise will strengthen the following:
Localise is a youth and community development organisation with over 45 years experience in youth volunteerism. Localise enables young people aged 11 to 18 to carry out local grassroots volunteer projects in the service of others.
In Localise, we believe that young people embrace the challenge to develop their talents and encourage their confidence through caring in the community; we believe every young person should experience leadership through service and should be inspired to help others and to become proactive citizens and community civic leaders. Empowering young people to be change makers through compassion and service to others.
This programme targets young people in 6th class primary schools, engaging them directly in back to basics community service work. It is a 10 week programme which results in the young people carrying out a community service action project that will directly benefit those in need in their locality. ie) service for local elderly, special needs, and homeless groups.
All adult leaders who complete the Localise Community Service Programme receive certificates as part of the Localise Graduation.
All Localise volunteers are Garda vetted and receive Localise Child Protection Training. Localise is supported by the Department of Children and Youth Affairs.
