Be part of an up and coming charity whose main objective is advocacy and campaigning regarding the ongoing issues and difficulties faced by individuals (survivors) who have experienced institutional  child abuse (State and Religious) and institutional abuse (Pyschiatric). We are an organisation of survivors, academics, psychologists, human rights activists and solicitors, who came together to highlight the State's misrecognition or in some cases failure to recognise abuse. 

Is training provided?: Yes

Please note that Garda Vetting is required for this position.

Tasks that the volunteer(s) will be expected to undertake:

We are looking for an advocate/support worker to join our team of volunteers who is interested in:

Signposting individuals to relevant support services. 

Be the link between Board and survivors. 

Be part of a dynamic and multidisciplinary team. 

Engage in outlined research. 

Be an essential part of the building of an new organisation. 

Most of this work will be completed for the time being via phone and email. 

Skills required for this role:

Background experience in advocacy and support work is a bonus. 

Background in social work, social science, law and psychology a bonus. 

Good communication skills. 

Knowledge of historical abuse issues is a bonus. 

Interest in research is viewed very favourably.

Minimum time commitment per week:
8 hour p/week
