Description

We are a small charity based in Wexford. We rescue and rehabilitate up to 100 orphaned, sick and injured seals every year.

Working alongside the animals you will be involved in all aspects of husbandry (feeding, cleaning and providing medications).

After a particularly busy season we will be hosting plenty of seal releases and will need help with moving the seals, talking to the public and collecting donations on the beaches. 

You may also interested in becoming part of our Stranding Network; rescuing the sickly seals and transporting to our center. We offer a training course to those interesting in joining the network learning to recognise types of seals and how to differentiate the sick from the healthy.

Tasks that the volunteer(s) will be expected to undertake:

Cleaning, feeding and maintenance of the seals.

Skills required for this role:

Fit and Healthy and Willing to Work Hard! 

We do recommend that people have an up-to-date tetanus shot.

Details of time commitment needed for role:
We would love people to work as much time as they can but we understand that with volunteering this is not always possible. Our full time staff work between 9 and 5 usually and everyone does a couple of early mornings and late nights every week.

Minimum time commitment per week:
1 hour p/week

Additional screening required for this role:
We would like to read C.V.'s and conduct interviews, however, for casual volunteering we do not ask much of people.
