Requirements:Positive Role Model
Big Brothers Big Sisters is an internationally recognised youth mentoring programme that forms supportive friendships for young people inspiring them to brighter futures. Big Brothers Big Sisters nationally and internationally is proven through research to improve young people’s wellbeing, improve their social support and relationships with others. BBBS is operated in Ireland by Foróige.
Volunteers are asked to meet with their little 1/2hours a week and to do activties and build a supportive friendship.
Is training provided?: Yes
Please note that Garda Vetting is required for this position.
Tasks that the volunteer(s) will be expected to undertake:
Skills required for this role:
Poitive, non judgemental, friendly, good listener and a good sense of fun!
Details of time commitment needed for role:
role is very flexible meetings can be on any date/time that suits both the volunteers and young people
Minimum time commitment per week:
1 hour p/week
Additional screening required for this role:
garda vetting, 3 references, interview, home visit and approx 10hours training (delivered in evenings and weekends)
