The Role of a Volunteer CARA
Everyone who works directly with the campers in Camp Abilities are referred to as a CARA. One of the most important aspects of your role is to support and encourage each camper to participate fully in all aspects of the camp activities, and in doing so you will maximise their benefit to the camp. This can include anything from waking the campers up in the morning to helping them prepare for bed, and everything in-between. You will work as part of a team to ensure the safety and welfare of the campers in your care and above all, make their experience a FUN one. It is important that this relationship is built on trust, empathy, respect and acceptance. A CARA can have a huge influence on a campers experience especially if it is their first time at camp so please fulfil your role to the best of your ability!
