Are you looking to volunteer long-term abroad, but not sure your budget can handle it? EVS may be what you are looking for!
The European Voluntary Service (EVS) is an EU-funded programme that gives young people (aged 18 to 30) the opportunity to volunteer in an organisation abroad. During their projects, EVS volunteers are provided with  insurance, accommodation, food, a small personal allowance, language training and local transport. Travel expenses to and from the hosting country will be reimbursed to the volunteers upon their arrival in the country. There are no application or placement fees, nor 3rd parties fees. The American Chamber of Commerce in Moldova, based in Chișinău, is looking for an Irish volunteer starting as soon as possible for a period of 12 months.

 

About the organisation

The American Chamber of Commerce in Moldova is a non-governmental non-profit organization, founded on September 4, 2006. As a member of the international network of 125 American Chambers worldwide, the American Chamber of Commerce Moldova connects businesses and business leaders to share the common goal of bringing the entrepreneurial spirit and the cultures of Moldova and the United States closer together. The Mission of American Chamber of Commerce in Moldova is to promote American trade and investment in Moldova and to work with the Moldovan government and business leaders to foster a more favourable business climate in Moldova for foreign trade and investment.

 

Volunteer’s role

The main tasks of the volunteer will include:

- administrating AmCham’s website & Facebook page;

- elaborating & distributing the AmCham Weekly Bulletin, travel guide, etc.;

- administrating AmCham E-Manager (maintaining and updating members database and major mailing lists);

- providing assistance to the Event’s Manager in organizing different business events;

- actively participating in AmCham events, as well as other relevant events where AmCham is invited (meetings, conferences, seminars, workshops, etc.).

Tasks that the volunteer(s) will be expected to undertake:

Skills required for this role:

 The volunteer should:
- preferably have a background in an economical or business-related field;
- be interested in improving their marketing and events experience and knowledge;
- have a good command of English; 
- be open to learn about a new culture and live in another country, being able to adapt to a new environment.

Details of time commitment needed for role:
- The volunteer/s will work up to a 35 hour week, generally during weekdays but work in the evenings and at weekends is sometimes required. Time in lieu is given when a volunteer works extra hours. - The volunteer/s will be allocated 2 days annual leave per month of her/his placement and will receive all national holidays in addition to her/his annual leave.

Minimum time commitment per week:
10+ hour p/week
