University Concert Hall is looking for volunteers for their pilot Fighting Words Limerick programme, which will start in 2021.

What is Fighting Words?
Established in Dublin in 2009 by Roddy Doyle and Séan Love, Fighting Words is hugely successful creative writing programme which aims to help children and young people to discover and harness the power of their own imaginations and creative writing skills. Now operating in locations all over the island of Ireland, Fighting Words is coming to Limerick!

While introducing children and young people to the magic of writing, Fighting Words is also about something much broader and more inclusive. It is about using the creative practice of writing and storytelling to strengthen our children and teenagers to be resilient, creative and successful shapers of their own lives.

How Does It Work?
Fighting Words offers free two-hour workshops to classes of primary school children, which are delivered virtually to classrooms via an online platform such as Zoom. The class starts a story as a group and each student writes their own individual ending!

Who Can Volunteer at Fighting Words?
Anyone can be a Fighting Words volunteer tutor - from 3rd level students to retirees and everyone in between, regardless of what you do (you don’t have to be a writer or a teacher!).

If you enjoy working in a creative environment and are a good listener, you are welcome to volunteer. Volunteering is flexible and fun, with no minimum commitment required.

If you are interested and would like to know more about this project,
register for our ONLINE INFORMATION EVENT which takes place on
Tuesday 17th November from 1.15-1.45pm via zoom.
