OVERVIEW

The SCOOP Foundation, which stands for ‘Supporting Children Out Of Poverty’, was set up in 2009 by Irish brothers Andy and Calvin Sweeney. SCOOP's Mission is to provide support, education and training opportunities to displaced young people in Ireland and abroad. Our programmes are currently being run in Ireland and the Middle East. We are an innovative charity thinking outside the box and with a love for running fun and socially driven events.

Location: Remote

Hours: 5 - 10 hours per week

Duration: 3 months

Salary: Unpaid internship


THE ROLE

 

CORPORATE AND GRANT FUNDRAISING: 

  • Research potential corporate fundraising sources 
  • Research potential grantmaking sources
  • Making initial telephone/email enquiries to potential funders/sponsors  
  • Provide support in data gathering for proposal writing and submission  

 

REGULAR DONOR STEWARDSHIP AND ADMIN:

  • Audit the SCOOP Crew database to ensure database is up to date
  • Assist in putting together a comms plan for the SCOOP Crew

 

DIGITAL COMMS AND MARKETING:

  • Assist the Marketing Team with the SCOOP e-commerce rebuild
  • Assist the Digital Marketing Manager with any ad hoc tasks (Website edits, Social Media scheduling, Design tasks etc)

 

GENERAL ADMINISTRATION: 

  • Sending letters and emails as required
  • Input any thoughts and ideas that you might have  
  • Attend and contribute to weekly meetings with the team

 

PERSON SPECIFICATION

The ideal candidate will have a genuine interest in working in the charity sector, with a keen interest in fundraising. This role would suit a student who would like to gain not for profit experience during their summer break. 

 

ESSENTIAL

  • Excellent written English and telephone / video call manner
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Experience with Google Workspace (Google Doc, Sheets, Presentations)
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team, as the task requires
  • Excellent organisational skills; accuracy and attention to detail
  • Proactive, creative and enthusiastic
  • Ability to carry out administrative duties effectively
  • Desire to learn and develop in the not for profit sector
  • Keen interest in fundraising
  • Experience with designing tools like Canva or Photoshop

 

DESIRABLE

  • Interest in strategic fundraising for the international development sector
  • Interest with working for a charity that helps refugees
  • Experience with using Mailchimp
  • Experience with using Wordpress CMS
