The Teenline helpline provides telephone support and information to young individuals who need to talk. This an national helpline service operating in Dublin 7 days a week from 8pm to 11pm. Volunteers will ensure that all calls to teeline helpline are conducted within the framework of the helpline approach. Each volunteer will be trained to facilitate all calls to the helpline by allowing clarification, consideration of options and encouraging positive action while adhearing to Teenlines policies and proceedures
Is training provided?: Yes
Please note that Garda Vetting is required for this position.
Tasks that the volunteer(s) will be expected to undertake:
The helpine volunteer must be available for three hours a week from 8pm to 11pm at the Teenline offices in Old Bawn Tallaght D24, Tasks required for the helpline is to listen and to offer support,information to young people who need to talk.
Skills required for this role:
A helpline volunteer will have empathy and good communication skills, have an ability to take direction and posses enthusiasim, passsion and energy. The helpline volunteer must be respectfull of others and be willing to make a commitment to volunteering with Teenline Ireland.
Details of time commitment needed for role:
Monday to Friday 8pm to 11pm
Minimum time commitment per week:
3 hour p/week
