Requirements:Committed, Friendly, Interested in Education
As a homework club volunteer you will get to work with a wonderful bunch of students. We are based in the Plassey Student Village Hall at the University of Limerick (across the road from the flagpoles). We cater for both primary and secondary school students so ages range from 6 right up to 17.
We are not offering grinds so we are not looking for any experts in particular subjects. Majority of the students just need someone to sit with them to guide them through their homework, ask them their spellings, help them find the answers to the questions in their books, etc.
Your role will include helping with homework. When the homework is finished, primary school children usually play board games, do arts and crafts and so on with volunteers’ help. With the secondary school kids, usually they have extra study or exam preparation so may need help with this.
Our current volunteers come from a range of different backgrounds/courses so you will get to meet many different people and there is always someone to ask if you get stuck on a question with a student.
Is training provided?: Yes
Please note that Garda Vetting is required for this position.
