Description

Amnesty International is a global movement of more than 8 million people who take injustice personally. We are campaigning for a world where human rights are enjoyed by all.

In Ireland, our 18,000 members campaign on issues like prisoners of conscience, forced disappearances, defending human rights defenders, reproductive rights, ending torture and protecting migrant & refugee rights, among others. We are independent of any political ideology, economic interest or religion. We are funded by our members and supporters alone.

Amnesty International in Galway are an active volunteer group who meet every week on Mondays, on Zoom, at 6pm. We campaign on issues such as Refugee Rights, Individuals at Risk, Human Rights Defenders, Prisoners of Conscience, Forced Disappearances, LGBTI Rights and for an end to the Death Penalty. We are looking for volunteers for the new academic year to become activists online especially signing petitions and sharing Human Rights cases on Social media

In December of each year we take part in the Write for Rights campaign, where 10 cases of Human Rights violations are chosen and with other activists and human rights supporters we petition those 10 governments to end the violations.
