Requirements:Compassion and Understanding


VMM partners with several organisations who work in and campaign for the human rights and dignity of others.

There are opportunities to get involved in community projects such as gender based violence, women's hygiene initiatives, gender empowerment, children'r rights and so much more.

Partners also work to combat human trafficking, ceating awareness of trafficking and modern day slavery, identifying and assisting the victims of human trafficking and work towards prosecution of perpetrators. (minimum three month placement)

VMM match your skills, qualifications, education and interests to the needs of the host organisation to ensure real added value.

Placements are available in Uganda, Malawi, and Kenya for four weeks up to six months.

Tasks that the volunteer(s) will be expected to undertake:

VMM are an international development and volunteering organisation with almost 50 years experiece and  we have placed thousands of volunteers throughout Africa, Asia and South America, which has led to astonishing results for communities and for the volunteers themselves.

We help volunteers of all ages to step into communities and get stuck into projects of real value to local people and our partnerships are with strong and wellestablished organisations. We currently work in nine African countries, contributing to the International Sustainable Development Goals.

We work to help our community-based partners in Africa take care of the needs that local people tell us are most important to them. Projects tend to cover education, human rights, advocacy, women’s and children’s rights, health and community development initiatives and we have partnerships with civic, community and church organisations. 

VMM have comprehensive compliance with the Comhlámh Code of Good Practice, which means excellent support for volunteers before, during and after placement. 

Skills required for this role:

Knowledge of human rights an advantage although not necessary

Compassion, understanding, willingness to listen and learn

Details of time commitment needed for role:
Monday to Friday unless otherwise agreed Weekends off

Minimum time commitment per week:
10+ hour p/week
