As an organisation across every county in Ireland, Irish Girl Guides is an asset to society empowering girls and women to speak out for the injustices they see and experience, and to seek a more equal world. Members of IGG bring their skills and talents to bear in all aspects of their lives. 

The Irish Girl Guides (IGG) has approximately 12,000 youth and adult members in Ireland, with a paid staff supporting the work of volunteers in the organisation. We are a youth-driven, dynamic organisation offering a varied and exciting programme for girls and young women aged 5-30, and opportunities for women of all ages.

As a girl-only movement, girls are free to develop and express themselves in a safe, comfortable, supported setting.

Please note that Garda Vetting is required for this position which will be processed with you after you apply.

Tasks that the volunteer(s) will be expected to undertake:

Our youth members follow the Journey Programme to complete age appropriate challenges to gain Interest Badges e.g. Book Lover, Space Badge, Chocolate Badge, Nature Observer to name but a few, and Core Badge Challenges. Volunteers will be expected to work with unit leadership team to organise and run activities to complete these badges, as well as fun games and activities, and crafts. 

Skills required for this role:

  • Work as part of unit Leadership Team
  • Patience when helping Ladybirds/Brownies/Guides learn a new skill/craft
  • Willingness to join in with games and songs
  • Be willing to share resources and ideas
  • Ability to be flexible 
  • Willingness to uphold principles of Irish Girl Guides Promise & Law

Details of time commitment needed for role:
Ladybird/Brownie/Guide units meet 1 evening a week. Day depends on individual unit.

Minimum time commitment per week:
2 hour p/week
