Description

Do you have a passion for making and want to share your knowledge? Or are you toally new to the idea of makerspaces and just want to get involved? The MakerSpace at University of Galway is looking for enthusiastic volunteers to manage equipment rentals and run the 3D printers. You can also volunteer to run informal workshops throughout the academic year.

What you get:

You will receive training on using and troubleshooting 3D printers and the equipment rental system. You'll help to create a warm and welcoming environment in the MakerSpace and are guaranteed a seat in the space to work on your own projects or assignments during any of your volunteering shifts. The MakerSpace manager is never far away if any issues arise. You'll become part of a group of volunteers from a variety of disciplines and backgrounds. It's a great way to meet new people and learn new skills. 

About the MakerSpace at University of Galway:

A place to imagine, learn, fail, make and remake. The MakerSpace in the library is open to all students and provides you with an environment to unleash your practical creativity. The MakerSpace contains a suite of PCs and Macs outfitted with high end design software, Arduinos, Raspberry Pis, 3D Printers, a drone, laser cutter, VR headset and more. We are all makers.

Details of time commitment needed for role:
You can spend as much or as little time as you like volunteering. Whether you would like to volunteer one hour a week or ten hours is completely up to you!

Minimum time commitment per week:
1 hour p/week

Applicants will be asked to provide a brief description (max. 200 words) of why you would like to volunteer in the MakerSpace.
