Requirements:Musical Skills, interest in sharing those skills with young people
We are looking for musical volunteers to use their skills in the BRYR Music Club!
BRYR is a large professional Youth Work Organisation in Ballymun, supporting the needs of young people aged 10-24yrs. We run a range of diverse programmes with a team of 40 staff. The well established Music Club is not a School of Music, instead it is a space where young people from the local area who enjoy music, can come together for a chat in a musical space.
The Music Club runs on Tuesdays from 5pm to 9.30pm and is divided into three age groups. Volunteers can do all or a part of this timeframe and your volunteering will be supported by the staff who lead the Music Club.
Is training provided?: Yes
Please note that Garda Vetting is required for this position.
Tasks that the volunteer(s) will be expected to undertake:
Your role will be to share your musical skill with young people who attend our Music Club. The young people will be in groups according to their ages, 13 and 14yrs and 15yrs+. There will be a Youth Worker supervising the groups and the Music Club volunteer will contribute with their skills and expertise.
This volunteering opportunity is with a vibrant music club that is led out by an experienced team of youth workers and volunteers. You could be facilitated to lead out a programme yourself should you wish to do so. Come along and give it a go!
Skills required for this role:
Can you play an instrument and want to share your skill?
Have you knowledge of how to use pro tools, Djs discs, and various apps used in music production and would like to share this knowledge?
Do you have a love of singing/song writing and would like to teach others?
Do you feel you would enjoy working with young people & feel you have skills to share with them?
Have you ever worked at event management and would like the opportunity to do so again?
Have you a skill in this area we never even heard of and want to share it?
Ideally you would see yourself as caring, patient, committed, consistent, open to learning, sensitive to the needs of young people and possibly would have insight into the experiences young people face in today's society.
Details of time commitment needed for role:
The Music Club runs on Tuesdays from 5pm -9.30pm. You can volunteer for all or some of this time. You can also arrange flexible volunteering hours to suit your own needs.
Minimum time commitment per week:
1 hour p/week
Additional screening required for this role:
All volunteers must: - complete an application form - meet for an informal interview - complete garda vetting - provide details of 2 referees
