Requirements:Energetic, enthusiastic volunteers required for our Preparing for Independence Residential Camp
This 4 day (3 night) residential camp in Maynooth University for blind students aged between 12-18years. The focus is on preparing for independence and college life. Assistance will be required with activities that include accessing public transport, shopping, preparing meals, household chores, social skills and using assistive technology.

Please note that Garda Vetting is required for this position.
Tasks that the volunteer(s) will be expected to undertake:
Volunteers will be expected to assist NCBI staff & students with activities including accessing public transport, household chores, social skills and the use of assistive technology
Skills required for this role:
Fluent English is essential
Knowledge of assistive technology is desireable but not essential
Minimum time commitment per week:
1 hour p/week
Additional screening required for this role:
All applicants will be Garda Vetted. Volunteers must be available to attend an informal interview and induction/training prior to the event. All of our volunteers are required to complete the HSE online “Children First” course. The online training presentation takes approx 1-2 hours and on completion a certificate of successful completion is issued. Volunteer accommodation will be provided if required.
