Requirements:Energetic, enthusiastic volunteers required for our Assistive Technology Summer Camp
This 3 day (2 nights) camp for 10 - 14 year olds with visual impairment, based in University of Limerick aims to focus on improving assistive technology skills such as touch typing, iPad accessibility, apps, use of Magnifiers/ Readers, and distance aids. This camp will also have activities that promote and support following skills including:
Social and Communication skills
There will also be sporting activities.
Is training provided?: Yes
Please note that Garda Vetting is required for this position.
Tasks that the volunteer(s) will be expected to undertake:
As a volunteer, you will be expected to help NCBI staff and students during activities and moving between the different venues for classes and breaks/meal times.
Skills required for this role:
A knowledge of assistive technology is desirable but not essential as training will be provided.
Fluent English is essential.
Details of time commitment needed for role:
3 days of the event
Minimum time commitment per week:
1 hour p/week
Additional screening required for this role:
All applicants will be Garda Vetted. Volunteers must be available to attend an informal interview and induction/training prior to the event. All of our volunteers are required to complete the HSE online “Children First” course. The online training presentation takes approx 1-2 hours and on completion a certificate of successful completion is issued. Volunteer accommodation will be provided.
