Our search for Role Models continues, to involve more than A Few Good Men & Women, as Youth Leaders in Foróige's South Dublin network (and nationwide!)

Foróige's mission statement is to enable young people to develop themselves consciously and actively and to develop their own society. Foróige achieves this through a diverse range of permanent youth centres, services, programmes and historically, through volunteer led clubs. 

As a Role Model, you will be taking on the role of a Youth Leader, where you will be working with a team of like minded fellow Leaders, to develop and co-ordinate a weekly club for young people, an engineered space where young people feel welcome, accepted, can make friends, decompress, find solace, support, inspiration and to have their say in deciding their own goals and activities within their own club,  being supported by Leaders to take active roles in realising their club's ambitions.

Is training provided?: Yes

Please note that Garda Vetting is required for this position.

Tasks that the volunteer(s) will be expected to undertake:

Together with the Volunteer Leader Team that you will be joining, to design and implement a dynamic, meaningful club programme of activity, which is as achievable as it enjoyable!
To be present for as many Club sessions as possible, in order to create a strong and consistent Foróige Club
To be a Role Model for young Club Members: to listen, support, guide and encourage.
To help young people discover their own strengths and capacities 
To create a club that is welcoming, dynamic, youth focused - to create a club that becomes a strong pillar in the local community
To encourage your Club to participate in Foróige led activities and to represent your club in regional and national Foróige fori

Skills required for this role:

Experience being a teenager desirable and essential!
Empathy and commitment to developing and supporting young people with their development
Self starter, ideas contributor
Willingness to take on practical responsibilities generated by operating a youth club
Fun, upbeat, positive 
Experience and skills in certain areas: cookery, film making, archery, project management, DJing, music. dance, drama, language, art - welcome, as this can add to a dynamic blend of Foróige activity within a club

Details of time commitment needed for role:
Wednesday evenings from 7-9:30pm

Minimum time commitment per week:
3 hour p/week
