Description

Dublin Zoo is currently recruiting volunteers to assist with our hugely popular kids Summer Camps. This is a unique opportunity to experience fun, educational & animal themed activities in Irelands largest outdoor classroom!

 

Successful applicants will need enthusiasm, energy, a passion for wildlife and a keen interest or background in working with young people. Experience is not essential and training is provided.

 

As Summer Camp Assistants you will gain valuable experience in environmental education, leadership, youth work &  knowledge of the natural world. You will also get a unique insight into working in a zoo environment alongside our team of educators & animal care staff.

 

The role involves volunteering  Mon– Fri for a minimum of 2 weeks and up to 5 weeks over July & August. Candidates need also be available to attend an Open Day on June 7th and two  Training days on July 12th & 13th.  Applicants must be over 18 years of age.

Is training provided?: Yes

Please note that Garda Vetting is required for this position.

Tasks that the volunteer(s) will be expected to undertake:

Volunteers will work alongside our professional educators & will have  support from zoo staff.

Skills required for this role:

No experience required other than an enthusiasm, interest in zoology, the natural world & working with young people (7-14yrs)

Previous teaching roles eg helping with Summer camps or youth groups would be an advantage.

Details of time commitment needed for role:
Mon - Fri 9.30-2.30 - over July & August. Minimum requirement 2 weeks volunteering.

Minimum time commitment per week:
10+ hour p/week
