Would you like to engage in more community outreach but perhaps do not have the time to venture off-campus? 

Are you a postgraduate student?

Then this opportunity may be for you!

The UCD Cormac Kilty Suite Outreach Programme allows primary school students to visit an engaging environment in which they can learn and develop many skills.

The Cormac Kilty Outreach Suite is located in the UCD O' Brien Centre for Science, and consists of a laboratory and learning suite, where children can develop in a fun environment. Student volunteers do not have to be science students to apply.

POSTGRADUATE STUDENT VOLUNTEERS volunteers are invited to assist with primary school pupils from various schools and community-based organistions who attend UCD and engage in numerous activities as part of the outreach programme.

Volunteers are required to assist with community outreach during term time, for one or two hours per week, depending on availability. 

Is training provided?: Yes

Please note that Garda Vetting is required for this position.

Tasks that the volunteer(s) will be expected to undertake:

  • Assist outreach staff in engaging primary school children in activities
  • Support and encourage children visiting the Cormac Kilty Outreach Suite

Skills required for this role:

  • Good ability to work with children or young people
  • Friendly and approachable 

Details of time commitment needed for role:
1 or 2 hours per week, for a set number of weeks, depending on agreed time commitment from primary school/organisation

Minimum time commitment per week:
1 hour p/week
