The UL aquatic centre are running a programme for 5-14 year old children with disabilities in the Limerick area. It is developed to teach skills conducive to participating in adapted sports sessions in a fun and supportive environment. It is a 10 week swimming session and are seeking volunteers to help with the programme.
Typically there are two volunteers per kid, and it involves interacting with the children and making sure they are safe whilst in the pool.
It takes place in the UL Sports Arena every Tuesday evening from 5pm to 5:45pm. You don’t need previous experience or a swimming teaching qualification. This volunteering role is a very rewarding experience as the children enjoy a tremendous sense of freedom and fun whilst in the pool.
