Requirements:All our volunteers must be Garda vetted, the cost of which is covered by the organisation.
We offer services to children and adults with moderate to profound intellectual disabilities in the South Tipperary area such as, respite services, home-based programmes, multidisciplinary care and rehab.
Volunteering can include helping in a group setting, in a day centre for example, or accompanying groups on outings to the cinema or bowling. It can also involve some one-to-one work. Linking with an individual and helping them to achieve self identified goals such as learning to swim or join the local gym
Volunteers bring their own unique skills, interests and ideas to the organisation. Volunteers enhance the service and form meaningful friendships with individuals and are very important in helping people in our services to integrate more into the community.
Is training provided?: Yes
Please note that Garda Vetting is required for this position.
Tasks that the volunteer(s) will be expected to undertake:
Volunteers are matched according to their skills, experience and knowledge.
Volunteers will be linked with front line staff who will support Volunteers with any day to day issues.
Volunteers will have three monthly reviews with a Team Leader to offer them support or guidance.
Volunteers can contact the Volunteer Coordinator at any time.
Details of time commitment needed for role:
As we provide both day and residential services we can facilitate people who wish to volunteer during the day, evenings and weekends. We are able to offer very flexible volunteering experience
Minimum time commitment per week:
1 hour p/week
Additional screening required for this role:
To become a volunteer you must get in contact with our Volunteer Coordinator who, along with providing more information, can send you out an application form and Garda e-vetting invitation Once this is returned, your vetting will be sent away and we will contact your two referrees Once Garda clearance is obtained and we have received your two references, you will meet with the Volunteer Coordinator for an induction and a placement will be arranged to suit your needs and availability
