Habitat for Humanity Ireland
Volunteer in Zambia in 2020 with volunteers from across Ireland to support Habitat's partnership with Zambia, which is focused on supporting Orphaned and Vulnerable Children.
The programme builds homes beside the local community for the most vulnerable, trains Change Agents to speak out about secure tenure and other issues affecting their community and provides construction skills training for young people.
This is a unique opportunity to experience grassroots development and be uplifted by the warmth and resilience of the Zambian people. Volunteers will:
SEE the shocking reality of poverty housing
SERVE families in need
SPEAK out for the cause of safe, decent housing when they return home
Habitat co-ordinates everything for a safe and rewarding experience. You don’t need special skills to take part.
Day 1-2 Depart Ireland, arrive in Zambia & orientation
Day 3-12 Build and closing celebration with the community
Day 13-14 Cultural activity & depart
Dates dependent on flight availability.
Supporting Habitat's Work
The budget to take part is €2,800p/p (this includes a non-refundable deposit, travel, in-country expenses, a debrief and a minimum £700 donation towards Habitat’s work).
We ask everyone to personally contribute towards their logistics costs and to raise more than the minimum as every penny makes a huge difference to families in need.
We have lots of ideas and resources to support fundraising.
