Description

The Yard is a social enterprise made up of young people from 16 – 24 years old, often early school leavers. Our aim is to equip them with skills and knowledge that will empower them to fulfil their personal and professional potential. We use wood turning as a tool to improve skills and awareness by demonstrating the benefits of teamwork. We share a common goal and measure outcomes to encourage growth in self-awareness.

Location: The Coombe, Dublin 8.

Please note that Garda Vetting is required for this position which will be processed with you after you apply.

Tasks that the volunteer(s) will be expected to undertake:

WHAT'S INVOLVED IN THE VOLUNTEER ROLE?

• Supporting our staff to run the programme.
• Building trusting relationships with young people in a workshop setting.

Skills required for this role:

WHAT'S REQUIRED FOR THIS POSITION

• Wood turning experience.
• An interest in youth work.
• Someone who is reliable, patient, resilient and flexible.

Details of time commitment needed for role:
COMMITMENT The Yard is open Tuesdays and Wednesdays 9-5 and Thursdays 9-1. You can commit to a few hours per week or a full day, depending on your availability. Minimum: 2 hours per week.

Minimum time commitment per week:
3 hour p/week
