About Big Brother Big Sister (Foroige)
BBBS is an internationally renowned youth mentoring programme that matches an adult volunteer with a young person who will benefit from extra support. The volunteers, as Big Brother or Big Sister, are friends, mentors and positive role models who assist these young people in achieving their unique potential. All BBBS volunteers are trained and supported by Big Brother Big Sister staff throughout the duration of the match.
What's Involved?
Volunteers are asked to spend 1-2 hours a week with their little brother/little sister. Together, you can decide on what activities you would like to do...go for coffee, play football, do arts and crafts, play computer games etc. It’s great fun, you'll do things you haven't done in years! It is an opportunity to develop a friendship with a young person, share common interests and to try new things. You could make a big difference to the life of a young person, supporting them and being the positive, strong role model they might need.
What's required for this position?
Must be a good role model with an interest in the welfare of young people.
Helpful Qualities: Friendly, positive, flexible, patient, reliable.
Please note: Volunteers must be at least 18 years old, and must have lived in Ireland for at least 12 months before applying for this role.
Full training and support will be provided.
Is training provided?: Yes
Please note that Garda Vetting is required for this position.
