Business Students as Change Agents: A Volunteer-Based Approach to SDG Engagement

Does your organization have projects that you would like to get done but lack the funding, skills, time or expertise? Cork University Business School Volunteers may be able to help

17/10/2025

About the Project:

This initiative, funded through UCC’s Strategic Alignment of Teaching and Learning Enhancement (SATLE) 2025, aims to connect business students with local charities, NGOs, and community organisations to support meaningful volunteering opportunities aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the students learning to develop employability.

By linking students’ academic learning with real-world community impact, the project seeks to:

• Enhance students’ awareness, employability, and civic responsibility.

• Strengthen partnerships between UCC and the local community.

• Demonstrate how business education can contribute to sustainability and social impact.

• Develop a structured volunteering and reflection framework that benefits both students and partner organisations.

What We’re Looking For:

We are inviting community and voluntary organisations to:

• Share volunteering opportunities suitable for UCC business students (one-off, short-term, or ongoing) utilising the skills being developed by our undergraduate and postgraduate students.

• Offer feedback on how the business school can better collaborate with local partners.

• Join our pilot network of CUBS SDG Engagement Partners in 2025–2026.
