The University of Limerick has been honoured with a 2025 Limerick St Patrick’s Day Parade Award for its outstanding contribution to this year’s celebrations — with student volunteers at the heart of the win.
Presented by Limerick City and County Council, the award recognises UL’s vibrant and inclusive entry, which celebrated Irish culture and community spirit through rhythm, energy, and unity. Our University's contingent, featuring over 300 students, staff, and alumni, proudly donned UL-green to represent the spirit of our institution while joining thousands of locals in the annual festivities
Organised collaboratively by the UL Community Liaison Office and the UL Student Volunteering Office, this year’s participation brought together a diverse and dynamic group of student volunteers. Many of these students are working toward the President’s Volunteer Award (PVA), with their involvement in the parade counting toward their community engagement efforts.
The University was honoured at a special ceremony in City Hall, where Councillor John Moran, Mayor of the City and County of Limerick, presented awards to seven standout participants from the 2025 parade. This recognition would not have been possible without the passion and dedication of our student volunteers, whose efforts were key to UL’s success.
We are incredibly proud to collaborate on this initiative. Our 300 student volunteers showcased the spirit of UL in a way that was both joyful and impactful. Their commitment not only brought colour and energy to the event but also brought them closer to completing their PVA Awards.
