'Thanks to UL for providing diversified opportunities in developing my skills ranging from academic to social. I have very little experience volunteering from my home in India. I used to love doing volunteering for social causes, facilitating co-curriculum activities, arranging and hosting events during my school and college days in India.
Since from very young age I always tried my level best to make myself engage with volunteering opportunities as it attracts me a lot but due to lack of awareness and opportunities in India, I did not come across as many. It was hard for me to search and get engaged.
I believe, volunteering can be done through many ways such as fund raising for any nobel cause, volunteering during any events in college, helping, supporting, promoting knowledge of volunteering (which I did when I volunteered for the UL PVA Ambassador Program) and care to the needy, not to mention the abundance of personal advantages.
I am much more interested to get involved as a volunteer in any event arranged by University of Limerick as I strongly believe in building networks and helping every living being irrespective of diversity in any form.
I also worked for Help Age India during my school at an age of 14 which is an Indian fundraising NGO looking after the care and help for older age people.
Being in the University of Limerick I had closely observed that there are plenty of opportunities which can strengthen my skills and expertise related to voluntarism in varieties of domain. I recently joined one volunteering community which I believe will boost up my confidence and enchance my knowledge. I am always open for any specific training or program which could help in enhancing my qualities and capabilities related to volunteering.
As per my point of view, I think everyone should do voluntary as much as can be possible because it helps in lifting confidence by giving you the chance to try something new and build a real sense of achievement which can make a difference. Volunteering can have a real and valuable positive affect on people, communities and society in general. It provides an awesome opportunity to meet different kinds of people and make new friends. It also helps to build our new and different space where you feel part of something outside your friends and family and learn new skills, gain experience and sometimes even qualifications.
To conclude, this is a Challenge so Take the challenge and Have fun! Which means You can challenge yourself to try something different, achieve personal goals, practice using your skills and discover hidden talents. Volunteers have a great time, regardless of why, what and how they do it'.
