Don't Fear the Repair
Limerick
About Us:Foster community awereness about the viability of repairing items and prolonging their lifespans to prevent waste and excess consumption
We hope to promote repair as a viable option instead of disposal and replacement. To this end, we invite memebers of the public to come to repair workshops where we attempt to repair their broken items, ideally with them, to both reduce the number of items going to landfill and encourage a long term spirit of repair. We are seeking volunteers to act as repairers for various items: clothing, furniture, household electronics, phones/tablets/laptops, DIY and garden tools, etc.
Tasks that the volunteer(s) will be expected to undertake:
Attend a workshop as a repair volunteer.
Deal with members of the public who will bring their various broken items in for repair.
Sit with them and, ideally, teach them how to repair their own items.
Tools, tea, coffee, and some biscuits are provided.
Workshops last 3 hours from 1pm to 4pm, but volunteers should arrive half an hour early to help set up, and leave half an hour later to help clean up.
