Don't Fear the Repair
Limerick
About Us:Foster community awareness about the viability of repairing items and prolonging their lifespans to prevent waste and excess consumption
We hope to promote repair as a viable alternative to disposal and replacement. To this end, we invite members of the public to come to repair workshops where we attempt to repair their broken items, ideally with them participating in the repair themselves, to both reduce the number of items going to landfill and encourage a long term spirit of repair. We are seeking volunteers to meet and greet members of the public, and to direct them to a reapair volunteer to get their items repaired.
Tasks that the volunteer(s) will be expected to undertake:
Attend a workshop as a meeter and greeter.
Deal with members of the public who will bring their various broken items in for repair, direct them to fill required forms, and pair them with available repair volunteers, or seat them and manage the queue.
Tools, tea, coffee, and some biscuits are provided.
Workshops last 3 hours from 1pm to 4pm, but volunteers should arrive half an hour early to help set up, and leave half an hour later to help clean up
