Description

Help make nights safer for everyone at Fred Again.. (RDS Simmonscourt) by volunteering with W.E.L.Safe CIC. You’ll join an experienced welfare & harm‑reduction team supporting guests throughout the event.

When: 
Training: Thu 30 Oct, 18:00-21:00
Event shift: Sat 1 Nov 2025, 15:30-23:30
Where:
 RDS Simmonscourt, Dublin
Spots: Approximately 4–5 student volunteers

Your role

  • Staff a non‑judgemental welfare space and conduct roaming outreach in the venue
  • Support vulnerable or intoxicated guests with care and dignity
  • Offer basic harm‑reduction advice around alcohol and drugs
  • Respond to suspected spiking (screening kits and protocols provided)
  • Assist with safeguarding and basic mental‑health support
  • Distribute essentials (water, ear protection, sanitary products, safer‑sex kits, rain ponchos, etc.)

  • All equipment and supplies provided
  • Reasonable travel expenses covered
  • Real‑world experience that looks great on a CV
  • On‑site supervision and debriefing
  • Opportunity to catch some of the show! (Whilst conducting outreach)

 

Who should apply

  • University students - suitable for studies in public health, psychology, medicine/nursing, social work, events, community work; and anyone else interested in harm reduction
  • Calm under pressure, good communication, empathetic
  • Interest in public health, psychology, medicine/nursing, social work, events, or community work (nice to have, not required)
