Join in the celebration and steward the St Patrick's Day Parade in the heart of Limerick City. See the parade from the inside and be a part of one of the largest cultural events of the year! Meet other volunteers and artists who are ready to light up the city centre and celebrate the most famous day in the Irish calendar. We are looking for volunteers to be part of the centrepiece of Limerick's St Patrick's Day celebrations. Volunteers will be asked to steward the parade, walking among the floats and performers, keeping it's steady pace of the parade, ensuring a smooth running and the safety of all involved. You will also be encouraged to engage with the fun and vibrant atmosphere, helping spread the joy of this special day in the Irish calendar! Applicants must be able to walk the full length of the parade route (approx 1.5/2km). A good level of English is appreciated and above all a willingness to work in a team and engage with the celebration of the day is paramount.

Is training provided?:Yes

Tasks that the volunteer(s) will be expected to undertake:

All volunteers will meet in the morning at Paddy's Day Festival HQ to get some pastries, tea, and coffee as well as meet your team leader for a briefing.

Group 1 of volunteers will be put in groups and directed to the Liemrick Barracks, the starting point of the parade. There, they will be instructed as to how to organise community groups as they line up to take part in the parade. As they enter, you'll greet them and ensure they stay in their lines and don't get in the way of other groups or cause hazards. The barracks is the hub of the parade and where the excitement builds! Here is a great opportunity to chat and meet local people taking part in the parade. Once. The parade begins, you will walk with your groups, ensuring they don't walk too fast or too slow.

Group 2 of volunteers will be asked to help put on and take off branding from barriers at the grandstand (the best place to watch the parade!) There youll be able to experience the parade from the inside.

After the parade, all volunteers will meet back at the Paddy's festival base and get some sandwiches and treats and to say goodbye and take off to enjoy the festival!

This is a two-day event as on Sunday the 15th, we host the International Band Parade, where bands from all over the country and North America compete in this historic competition.
