UL Student Volunteer Emer Kelly

19/05/2020

My name is Emer Kelly. I am a 3rd year Undergraduate student studying Digital Media Design at the University of Limerick.

I recently challenged myself to run 100km in 20 days to raise funds for three incredible charities: The Mater Foundation, Alone, and Pieta House. I started this challenge on the 27th of April and completed 100km o Sunday. I also did a half marathon on the last day and I'm taking part in the ‘Great Ocean Road running fest virtual race. My donation page will still accept donations up until the 17th of June! I have raised €1545 so far and my target is €2000! Any donations are greatly appreciated.

I have received great support from my friends and family, and I am also hosting a giveaway on my Instagram (@emerrkelly) where I'm giving away 4 incredible prizes to people who support and donate. The final prize will be announced this Saturday, so there is still time to enter!

My aim with this challenge is to raise much needed funds for incredible charities, promote health and fitness, and encourage people to keep exercising during quarantine. I have run 5km everyday within my 5km radius. It has been extremely challenging at times, especially coming into the final few days, but I have thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience. I would encourage everyone and anyone to volunteer for something they are passionate about as it is such a rewarding feeling to help people in need!
