Description

Age Action Ireland is actively recruiting volunteer computer tutors for its Getting Started programme in Coolock, Dublin 17.

Getting Started is a volunteer-led Digital Skills course supporting people to get online or navigate smart devices with confidence.

The classes are small and volunteer tutors work one-to-one with students. The course runs for 2 hours once a week for five weeks in community settings such as libraries and community centres.

All tutors are volunteers and teach one student at a time in small class groups.

For the beginners course volunteers will be encouraging and helping older people to learn simple IT tasks (turn computer on/off, use the mouse, keyboard, search the internet, send, and receive emails). Learners may also be interested in learning other skills such as downloading and uploading apps in their phone, using programmes such as Skype and Zoom downloading photos etc. Training will be provided, and tutor lesson plans are available on all topics.
