Are you looking for a way to make a real impact, develop new skills, and have fun while doing it? Join Foróige as a volunteer and help empower the next generation!
About Foróige
Foróige is a leading youth organisation in Ireland. Our mission is to empower young people (aged 10-18) to find their voice, develop their skills, and reach their full potential. We do this by creating safe, enjoyable, and supportive spaces in communities across the country where young people can connect, learn, and grow. Our volunteers are the heart of this mission.
Your Role as a Foróige Volunteer
As a volunteer leader in a local Foróige Club or Project, you won’t just be supervising – you’ll be a facilitator, and a positive role model. You will work alongside other volunteers and our young members to:
Facilitate Fun Activities: Help plan and run engaging activities, from sports, arts, and music to community projects and workshops.
Create a Safe, Positive Space: Foster a safe, inclusive, and welcoming atmosphere where every young person feels they belong.
Listen and Support: Be an active listener who supports young people's ideas and encourages them to take the lead.
Inspire Growth: Help young members develop crucial life skills like teamwork, communication, confidence, and leadership.
Who Are We Looking For?
You don't need any formal experience in youth work to be a brilliant volunteer! We are looking for students who are:
Enthusiastic and Positive: Someone who enjoys having fun and can bring energy to a group.
A Good Listener: Patient, empathetic, and willing to hear what young people have to say.
Reliable and Committed: Can you spare a couple of hours a week to be a consistent presence for our members?
Passionate about helping young people thrive.
(You must be over 18 years of age).
What’s In It For You?
Volunteering with Foróige is a two-way street. While you’re giving your time, you’ll gain so much in return:
Gain Incredible CV Skills: Develop practical experience in leadership, facilitation, communication, and project management that employers value.
Receive Full Training: We provide comprehensive training in youth work, child protection (Tusla's Children First), and more – all free of charge.
Make a Tangible Difference: Witness firsthand the positive impact you can have on the lives of young people in your community.
Join a Community: Connect with other like-minded volunteers and become part of a nationwide network dedicated to supporting youth.
Flexibility: A rewarding role that is designed to fit around your college schedule.
Time Commitment & Support
Time: Typically 1.5 - 2 hours per week during the academic year.
