Description

The Galway Youth Climate Assembly is back on 4th November, and we’re looking for enthusiastic facilitators and volunteers to help make it a success!

Since 2022, the Assemblies have given young people a real voice in shaping local climate action. They are youth-led by design, with participants planning activities, debating solutions, and speaking directly with councillors, policymakers, and climate experts. 

Volunteer roles include:

  • Supporting workshops and youth-led discussions
  • Helping with logistics and event setup
  • Assisting with registration and participant support


By volunteering, you’ll help create a safe, inclusive space where young people can share their vision for a more just and sustainable Galway — and ensure their voices are heard in decision-making.

Tasks that the volunteer(s) will be expected to undertake:

There will be multiple volunteer roles on the day – you can choose the one that suits you best

  • Welcome & Registration: greet participants, manage sign-in
  • Workshop Support / Facilitator: assist youth-led discussions, help groups stay on track, encourage participation.
  • Logistics Help: set up and tidy up spaces, manage materials, ensure smooth event flow.
  • Participant Support: guide groups between sessions, answer questions, create a welcoming atmosphere.

Details of time commitment needed for role:
Attend 3 preparatory workshops before the event (time and location to be confirmed). Be available on the event day, 4th November. Facilitators: full-day commitment, approx. 9:30 am – 3:30 pm. Other roles: time commitment may vary (to be agreed in advance).

Minimum time commitment per week:
2 hours p/week
