Hygiene Hub Dublin
Dublin
About Us:To provide hygiene products through our network of partners and to be advocates for change through education, research and campaigns
Since 2019, Hygiene Hub has grown into a national charity with established Hubs in 10 counties. TU Dublin has partenered with Hygiene Hub to help collect donated hygiene items that can support students in need.
What is hygiene poverty?
Hygiene poverty impacts people in lots of different ways, for example, hygiene poverty is not being able to replace a toothbrush when needed, or a whole family sharing a toothbrush because one each isn't an option. Hygiene poverty might also be washing your hair, body, face and clothes in the same washing-up liquid used for the dishes.
What do we do at Hygiene Hub?
Hygiene Hub volunteers work together to manage Drop Off Points where the public can donate hygiene items, and co-ordinate deliveries to local services and groups.
Volunteers run regular product drives within their local area, and undertake community fundraising activities.
As a part of the Hygiene Hub x TU Dublin group, you will work with other students to manage Drop Off Points across the campuses, collect donated hygiene items and donate them to the TU Pantry at Grangegorman. There will also be an opportunity to host Hygiene Drives (larger collections of hygiene items) that will support students and the local community.
Can you join the team?
Hygiene Hub x TU Dublin is looking for student volunteers who can give a couple of hours a month to encourage donations, manage Drop Off Points, and deliver the hygiene items to the Food Pantry to support students facing hygiene poverty. There will be opportunities to get involved with the wider Hygiene Hub team as well. Driving is not essential, but it will be very helpful for this role.
