Description

Our Volunteer Programme includes a 3 week placement in Uganda in summer 2026 and provides the opportunity to support our projects, connect with communities and learn from our team and the people we work with.  

Our Volunteer Programme is divided into three parts:

Phase 1 - Pre-Departure, which will include two full programme days in Ireland.

Phase 2 - A 3 week overseas placement in Uganda. 

Phase 3 - Post placement debriefing

In order to successfully complete our programme, all applicants must complete all phases in full.

Is training provided?:Yes

Please note that Garda Vetting is required for this position which will be processed with you after you apply.

Tasks that the volunteer(s) will be expected to undertake:

All placement activities are timetabled and led by Nurture Africa staff in Uganda. Activities that each participant will take part in are partially dependent on your area of study. Our general skills programme is available as an option for all students also.

Throughout the experience, you will have the opportunity to critically reflect on stereotypes and misconceptions regarding life in sub-Saharan Africa and broaden your own perspective and become a more rounded global citizen. 

Details of time commitment needed for role:
Two Saturdays pre-placement, Three weeks in Uganda, One Saturday post placement

Flexible/Varies

Additional screening required for this role::
To apply, you must: 1) Submit a fully completed application form. 2) Attend an online interview. 3) Agree to abide by Nurture Africa Volunteer Programme Policies. 4) If successful and offered a place on the programme; Return programme paperwork and provide a Police Clearance Certificate.
