Description

Want to make a real impact in your local community while building your skills? Join our volunteer team to help map mental, physical and social wellbeing supports for migrants across Limerick City and County. 

You will research local organisations, gather key info and help create a community-friendly resource that connects migrants to the services they need. Perfect for students interested in research, data in Health and/or Social Sciences, or anyone insterested. 

Is training provided?:Yes

Please note that Garda Vetting is required for this position which will be processed with you after you apply.

Tasks that the volunteer(s) will be expected to undertake:

Research local organisations that support migrants in areas like:

  • Mental health 
  • Physical health 
  • Housing, education, employment and community wellbeing

Gather key details such as:

  • Services offered 
  • Contact info
  • Languages available
  • Accessibility (location, online services, etc.)

Organise your findings into shared database, spreadsheet, or visual map (no design skill needed!)

This volunteer project involves:

  • Basic research skills 
  • Good attention to detail - You'll be collecting and recording important information about services
  • Communication skills - You might have to email or call organisations, and maintain good communication woth your team 
  • Ability to work on your own, self-motivation - Managing your own tasks, so being reliable matters. 
  • Empathy and cultural sensitivity -  A respectful, open-minded attitude is key when working on migrant related issues. 

Opportunity to develop

  • Knowledge of health, migration or social justice topics
  • Familiarity with tools such as Canva, Google Sheets etc. 

Details of time commitment needed for role:
No specific days, flexible, open to discussion.

Minimum time commitment per week:
3 hours p/week

Additional screening required for this role::
In person meeting before the commencement of the volunteer project, to discuss project overview, tasks, time commitment and optional stuff.
