About Us:
Scouting Ireland is dedicated to enabling and empowering young people to realise their potential, through its core values based on the Scout Promise and Law, fostering active citizenship and helping create a better community; society and world.
Through our various youth-led programmes, Scouting Ireland delivers a range of opportunities for young people to develop their skills, talents and leadership potential through outdoor adventure and by working with their Scout Group. Our programmes focus is on a system of progressive self-education, known as the Scout Method, which aims to nurture the mental, physical and holistic growth and development of young people of all ages.
We need new volunteer Scout Leaders to guide & facilitate youth members from 6 to 16 on this development journey by providing mentorship and role-modelling positive attitudes towards learning new things and taking on new challenges.
Is training provided?:Yes
Please note that Garda Vetting is required for this position which will be processed with you after you apply.
Tasks that the volunteer(s) will be expected to undertake:
The role of the Scouters is one of assisting, supporting, facilitating, motivating and being a role model. Younger age ranges will require more facilitation and direction but this should be reversed in older age ranges to one of ‘mentor or coach’.
The Scouters need to be aware of the young people in their Section, and understand ‘where they are’ in relation to their development as young people. Scouters will assist in reviewing activities and help young people to reflect on their experiences and personal journey through Scouting.
You do not need experience or knowledge of outdoor pursuits to become a Scout Leader, all you need is a positive attitude & a willingness to learn new things by doing them with our Youth Members.
Benefits of Volunteering:

There would be plenty of notice for the weekend events and if you can't make them all, that is okay.
Minimum time commitment per week:
2 hours p/week
