STAND GLOBAL ISSUES COURSE COORDINATOR 

Applications now open for the roles of ‘Student Volunteer Course Coordinators’ on our 6-week autumn Global Issues courses. The STAND Global Issues course is a part-time evening course that focuses on the interdependent and unequal world in which we live, through a process of interactive learning, debate, action and reflection. Running online for one evening per week over 6 weeks, each 2-hour session focuses on a different topic ranging from Migration to the Environmental Crisis and is facilitated by a different expert, researcher or activist with extensive experience in their particular field. 

Course 2 (Tuesday 21st Oct-25th Nov)  is hybrid- in TU Dublin and online – and applications are open to students in TU Dublin.

Tasks that the volunteer(s) will be expected to undertake:

To maximise the impact of the autumn 2025 Global Issues course, we’re recruiting several student volunteers to help coordinate. The role will be engaging and rewarding, with a variety of tasks:

  • Liaising with Education and Research Manager & course Facilitator in advance of each session to understand session requirements
  • Helping with recruitment by posting on social media, postering on campus etc.
  • Sourcing relevant room on campus to run some of the workshops (for on-campus sessions)
  • Welcoming students to each workshop & introducing the course facilitator each week (additionally, closing the session, thanking the facilitator and introducing the topic of the next session)
  • Providing tech support at each session- this might include setting up projector/laptop for an in-person session or supporting the facilitator with managing break-out rooms and monitoring the Chat for Q&A on zoom sessions
  • Acting as a contact point between STAND and course participants, ensuring any queries from participants are addressed.
  • Hosting a Global Issues Tea n’ Chat/Coffee Morning on campus for participants on the Global Issues course

Optional tasks include:  

  • STAND social media takeover: creating content for STAND’s social media page based on your experience with Global Issues 
  • Writing for STAND News: writing articles on the Global Issues themes for STAND News

As a course coordinator, you will gain valuable skills in working as part of a dynamic team to co-host in-person and online, interactive trainings on global issues.

You will gain experience in managing and hosting workshops as well as building your professional network through liaising weekly with our expert facilitators.

You will also benefit from participating in the course free of charge (normal cost is €25).  

Details of time commitment needed for role:
Tuesday evenings from 6pm-8pm from October 21st to November 25th, plus one or two hours of prep.

Minimum time commitment per week:
2 hours p/week

Applicants will be invited to fill in an application form and for an interview.
