Description

Joining your college SVP Society will give you a chance to learn about the work of SVP, social justice and to engage in positive and meaningful social action in your own community.

Supports from the College SVP team are available throughout the year to ensure that your experience is a positive and full one.

At the heart of our work is to create a more just and caring world – by joining your college conference, you can help us to achieve this!

Please note that Garda Vetting is required for this position which will be processed with you after you apply.

Tasks that the volunteer(s) will be expected to undertake:

LEARN

  • Take part in workshops to increse your knowledge on social challenges in your community. These workshops cover topics such as poverty and the cost of living, sustainable fashion, energy poverty and climate justice.
  • Take part in training opportunities, such as Street Outreach Training, Safeguarding Vulnerable Adults Training and Child Protection Awareness Training.

ACT

  • Give back to your community through a range of hands-on activities and projects, such as running homework clubs for local primary schools, hosting youth events, running social clubs for the elderly, starting a foodbank, and street outreach for those in need in your community. There's something for everyone!

CHANGE

  • Raise awareness of social justice issues in Ireland and abroad. Reflect on the differen volunteering has made for you and your community, while making new friends and developing new skills!
