Roots and Shoots: A Higher Education Global Citizenship Initiative

UCD in the Community, in partnership with Student Volunteer Ireland and Gaisce are excited to invite staff and students of UCD to the launch of ‘Roots and Shoots: A Higher Education Global Citizenship Initiative’, a joint partnership between Gaisce – The President’s Award and Student Volunteer Ireland (StudentVolunteer.ie), funded by Irish Aid.

Come along and join UCD in the Community on Monday, 22 September at 12 noon in UCD Greenacre Hub Community Garden for the launch of this new student programme to engage UCD students with global citizenship skill-building workshops.

Ever curious about being an ally, why do we need the SDGs, or the root issues behind them? The new Gaisce and Student Volunteer Ireland programme welcomes UCD students to join in and explore volunteering and community action locally to make a difference with international communities.

We will be holding online international symposiums with student volunteers in the global south and building our connections, skills and knowledge.

Funded by Irish Aid there will also be residential conferences in Ireland to meet fellow student volunteers.
