Requirements:
Role Description
As a Beyond Surviving Champion, you will play a vital role in raising awareness about
Beyond Surviving’s services on a local and national scale. With your support and outreach
efforts, we will increase visibility, build community, and further promote our charity. You’ll be
an important representative of Beyond Surviving—sharing information, engaging with the
public, and championing our survivor-led ethos!
Key Responsibilities
Outreach & Representation
● Represent Beyond Surviving at events (such as fundraising/ community events,
campaigns, local outreach, cheque presentations, wellness fairs, etc.) and help
ensure Beyond Surviving has a visible, respectable and empowering presence.
● Raise awareness of our mission, services, and values through in-person and digital
engagement.
● Distribute materials (e.g. leaflets, zines) and engage with the public in a sensitive,
trauma-informed manner.
Awareness Raising & Community Engagement
● Help initiate or support awareness activities and campaigns that reflect survivors’
voices and the ethos of Beyond Surviving.
● Engage with local and national networks, community groups, and relevant allies to
build partnerships and increase visibility.
● Gather and share survivor-informed stories and insights (with permission and
safeguarding considerations) that help raise awareness and engagement.
Promotion & Collaboration
● Collaborate with other volunteers (e.g. ‘Events Coordinators’, ‘Fundraisers’,
‘Content Creators’, etc.) to promote events, resources, awareness and engagement
initiatives, and campaigns across communication channels (e.g. social media,
website, newsletters).
● Support campaigns and moments of awareness (e.g. Sexual Violence Awareness
Month, 16 Days of Activism, etc.).
● Collaborate with the team to ensure messaging remains trauma-informed,
survivor-led, and aligned with our tone and values.
Advocacy & Survivor-Led Contribution
● Where appropriate, share feedback from the community or outreach efforts to inform
future campaigns, resources, and awareness and engagement strategies.
● Ensure all outreach reflects the lived experience, values, and ethos of our
survivor-led, trauma-informed approach.
● Champion the survivor’s voice and advocate for their inclusion, rights and needs.
● Involve survivors of DSGBV in all efforts where appropriate (with permission and
safeguarding considerations).
Who We’re Looking For
● Passionate about supporting and advocating for survivors and aligned with Beyond
Surviving’s mission.
● Lived experience of domestic or sexual violence is welcomed but not required.
● Friendly, proactive, and comfortable speaking to diverse audiences.
● Able to commit to a minimum of 6-months volunteering with Beyond Surviving and at
least 5 hours per month.
● Experience in outreach, advocacy, communications, or community engagement is a
plus but not essential.
● Strong personable and teamwork skills.

Details of time commitment needed for role:
This role may include weekend hours to attend pop-up events, awareness raising days, represent Beyond Surviving at cheque presentations and other outreach and community engagements.
Minimum time commitment per week:
2 hour p/week
Additional screening required for this role:
Informal interview, volunteer onboarding session, training on processing disclosures of sexual violence and other safeguarding measures relevant to the role.
