About Us:To make a positive difference in the life of a young person through a professionally supported one to one mentoring relationship




Description

This is a community based mentoring programme, matching a young person aged 10-18 years with an adult volunteer.  Matches meet once a week for an initial one year period and are supported by a staff member for the duration of the programme.  Young people are matched to volunteers who share similar interests with them.  It is flexible and takes just one hour per week to make a difference for a young person.

We also offer a site based mentoring programme. This programme matches an adult volunteer to a young person in a surpervised setting.  Matches meet once a week for 1-2hours for group or 1:1 activities for a period of 10-12weeks.  The aim is to build a positive friendship that helps the young person develop skills, confidence and community connections.  

 

 

Is training provided?:Yes

Please note that Garda Vetting is required for this position which will be processed with you after you apply.

Tasks that the volunteer(s) will be expected to undertake:

The volunteer and young person will spend time together doing activities that they both enjoy, for example, going for walks, playing sports, arts and crafts, baking/cooking etc.

Details of time commitment needed for role:
This role is flexible, it is a minimum of 1 hour per week and can be done during the week or at weekends. It will take place in hours when the young person is not at school.

Minimum time commitment per week:
1 hour p/week

Additional screening required for this role::
Garda vetting, reference check, home visit and interview. Training to support you in your role.
