About Us:The aim of the Peer Support Programme is to connect and support students in the context of The Stepped Care model to mental wellbeing.




Description

The Peer Support Programme at the Technological University of Dublin (i.e., TU Dublin) is lead by the Student Counselling Service (i.e., SCS). Peer Supporters are trained in active listening and communications skills that allow them to support students in respect of emotional need. Students may wish to make contact with a Peer Supporter for many reasons, including loneliness, transitioning to University life, personal pressures, and more. Peer Supporters can suggest extracurricular activities and make referals for specialist help depending on the individual situation.

Is training provided?:Yes

Tasks that the volunteer(s) will be expected to undertake:

Peer Supporters are to listen and to support students in what they are experiencing. They can direct the student to the most appropriate care pathway and make referals, if needed.

Benefits of Volunteering:

Hours will be helpful for you to log towards your TU Dublin awards.

Minimum time commitment per week:
1 hour p/week
