Description

Volunteering at Barretstown is a truly unforgettable experience – fun activities, lots of laughs and the knowledge that you are directly helping seriously ill kids and their families turn their lives around. Every year Barretstown requires approximately 2000 volunteers to take part in our life-changing programmes. 

 

As a volunteer you perform a key role in supporting and encouraging each child to take part in all aspects of camp, while making sure they're safe and supervised at all times. Most importantly you'll help them have fun!  You will be assigned to work with a family and/or activity group of children depending on the camp you attend. You will encourage and support the children to partake in all activities and to act as a Cara “friend”. You must commit to the full camp session.

Please note that Garda Vetting is required for this position which will be processed with you after you apply.

Your Role

Barretstown is a residential camp - Food and accommodation is provided.

Training

A bit nervous? Nothing to worry about, we will give you all the training you'll need!.Training is provided for all new volunteers as part of your camp session. Training will cover everything you need to know to make sure you are comfortable within your volunteer role. As a new volunteer on your first camp you will also be paired with a returning volunteer for guidance. There is plenty of support on offer at camp. Camp is casual so please wear warm comfortable clothing and footwear. A what to bring and what is provided list is outlined in the camp manual

Your Forms

All offers are subject to satisfactory references, police check and medical. If these are required they will be requested below. You will receive a reminder every 10 days until all your documents are submitted. Due to the volumes of applications we receive we are unable to individually acknowledge all documentation received but you will receive a reminder until all documents are submitted.

Details of time commitment needed for role:
Weekend Camps Typical Family Weekend Camp arrival 5pm on Fridays and stay onsite until 3pm on Sundays. Meals, accommodation and bus service from Heuston Station all available free of charge.

Minimum time commitment per week:
10+ hour p/week
