About Us:VSI is the Irish branch of a worldwide peace movement that works to promote peace and social justice through volunteering at home and abroad
VSI offers a range of opportunities to volunteer locally and abroad, both short and medium/long-term. Anyone over the age of eighteen is eligible for one of VSI's projects - any background, any skill level!
We have 2 main international volunteer programmes - short-term IVP projects in Europe, which are open to all ages and self-funded, and ESC projects; which are open to 18-30 year olds and funded by the EU (you must be residing in Ireland for this).
All of our volunteer projects are residential, so you must be committed to doing just that for the duration of the project (not once a week for 8 weeks, for example), so best done during holidays for students. We have also run medium/long-term projects in the Global South (you must be over 21 years of age) and non-formal educational workshops and events in Ireland on various social justice issues (these are once-off/non-residential). Enquire today to find a volunteer project that suits you!
Is training provided?:Yes
Tasks that the volunteer(s) will be expected to undertake:
Tasks depend on which volunteer project you decide to do, but full information on your tasks will be provided in advance and training is provided.
Benefits of Volunteering:
Specific benefits again depend on the volunteer project, but all our projects work with community organisations and groups, therefore benefitting the local community. There are many personal benefits to volunteering, including meeting new people and making lifelong friends, gaining new skills, trying something different, travelling somewhere new, experiencing and learning about other cultures, and doing something to give back to communities. Volunteering with VSI means you can trust that our projects are of a high quality and we have a strong relationship with our international partners, resulting in a good experience for our volunteers!
