Volunteer Fundraiser
Role Description
As a Volunteer Fundraiser, you will play a vital role in growing and sustaining Beyond Surviving’s survivor-led, trauma-informed work. Your efforts will directly support the development of impactful programmes, events, and advocacy initiatives that empower survivors of domestic abuse and sexual violence. From creative campaigns to grant research, you will help build a strong foundation of support that allows survivors to heal, grow, and thrive—beyond surviving!
Who We’re Looking For
Passionate about supporting survivors and aligned with Beyond Surviving’s mission.
Lived experience of domestic or sexual violence is welcomed but not required.
A creative, proactive individual with excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
Able to commit to a minimum of 6-months volunteering with Beyond Surviving and at least 2 hours per week.
Experience in fundraising, community engagement, grant writing, and communications is a plus.
Strong teamwork skills.

Tasks that the volunteer(s) will be expected to undertake:
Key Responsibilities
Fundraising Strategy & Campaigns
Plan, develop, and deliver creative, values-aligned fundraising initiatives—from community events (e.g. raffles, challenges, donation drives) to grant proposals and campaigns—ensuring alignment with our mission and survivor-led ethos.
Contribute to both public-facing (e.g. digital campaigns, events) and private fundraising streams (e.g. grants, in-kind support), including promotion through relevant platforms such as Instagram, Stories, and newsletters.
Collaborate with the Beyond Surviving team and other volunteers, sharing tasks and involving survivors while upholding our trauma-informed practice and survivor-led ethos—e.g. insight, co-creation, and storytelling.
Donor & Community Engagement
Build and maintain relationships with local businesses, community groups, and individuals to secure donations, sponsorships, partnerships, and in-kind support.
Contribute to the development and delivery of donor appreciation and recognition strategies.
Attend and represent Beyond Surviving at fundraising or community events to raise awareness and strengthen relationships.
Teamwork & Collaboration
Collaborate regularly with the other Volunteer Fundraisers to divide tasks, share updates, and avoid overlapping efforts.
Communicate clearly and consistently across agreed channels (e.g. email, WhatsApp) to ensure alignment and mutual support.
Contribute to group reflection and debriefs post-fundraiser or grant submission to identify improvements and celebrate successes.
Grant Research & Writing
Research and identify relevant grant opportunities and funding streams aligned with Beyond Surviving’s goals, trauma-informed practice, and survivor-led ethos.
Review funder guidelines, eligibility criteria, and application requirements to assess suitability and compliance.
Assist in preparing and drafting grant applications, including supporting documentation, budgets, and values-aligned narratives.
Collaborate with the CEO and other volunteers to refine drafts, integrate survivor-informed insights, and ensure the proposal reflects our mission and four pillars.
Maintain a live tracker of funding deadlines, application statuses, required attachments, and grant outcomes.
Administration & Reporting
Support with post-fundraising and grant-related follow-up, including feedback gathering, internal debriefing, donor/ supporter acknowledgements, and grant correspondence where applicable.
Maintain clear, GDPR-compliant records of donations, sponsorships, campaign performance, and fundraising activities in line with internal policies.
Participate in debrief and reflection sessions with the Volunteering team and/ or CEO to capture learnings, assess alignment with our survivor-led ethos, and support continuous improvement.
Track outcomes, key milestones, and impact data, and contribute to reporting that includes survivor-informed insights where appropriate.
Help ensure all fundraising efforts adhere to ethical standards, trauma-informed practices, and Beyond Surviving’s values.
Save key documents, templates, and learnings to shared Google Drive to support transparency, accessibility, and future fundraising efforts.
